When you save documents from word 2007 as pdf (using PDF/XPS plugin or Adobe 9) chem draw drawings are not visible at all or are blown out of proportion.
Problem occurs using both chemdraw 11 and chembiodraw 11. Reproduced on different computers and different copies of the software.

Reported to Microsoft but they haven't found any solution.

We have been in contact with Microsoft on this issue. Microsoft has been making progress on this problem. They have provided us with some files (not for public consumption) that when applied appears to fix this issue. We are hopeful that Microsoft will release this solution in an upcoming Microsoft Office service release or hotfix. Until then, try turning OFF the "Use Antialiasing When Generating Windows Metafiles" option in the ChemDraw Preferences, and then copy and paste into Word.

Is there still no better solution for this problem? In my opinion, turning OFF the "Use Antialiasing When Generating Windows Metafiles" is only a dirty workaround, because after saving a word file to pdf, the chemical structures aren't 100% identical in the word file and the pdf.

Greetings

You're absolutely correct that the turning off of the option is only a workaround, and not mean to be a long term solution. We're still waiting for Microsoft to release a fix. Once we are aware of their fix being released, we will post that here.

There are also related problems with older versions of Word (Word XP). I imagine there is little chance any fix will be released by Microsoft. In Word XP the ChemDraw figures are exported but various atoms/bonds disappear.

Can an older version of ChemDraw be used even though we just have a site license for the latest version? This is a major issue that is holding up the submission of several very important manuscripts.

Still doesn't work. Has anyone actually installed this and had it work? ChemDraw images are still not visible in the PDF (I tried "re-pasting" them in).

Where can I get a licensed copy of previous versions of ChemDraw, which seemed to work fine?

We have confirmed that the Microsoft patch located here: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=969413 does work, HOWEVER, you must choose Save As from Word and then choose the "PDF or XPS" option. This option is present if you have MS Office 2007 SP2 installed.

If you have Acrobat 9 installed, which installs a Word Add-In, we found that using the Acrobat 9 Add-In from Word to create the PDF still shows a problem. Please note that if you have Acrobat installed, it may install a "Adobe PDF" option in the Save As list. This will not work either. You must use the Save As-> PDF or XPS option to take advantage of the Microsoft hotfix.

Does this patch also work for powerpoint 2007? I have the same problem that you discussed for word.

The solution to this problem is to print the word file to a pdf file and the pdf will be fine.

There are a lot of tools on my computer, And yesterday I had an unpleasant problem, exacter some my doc files were damaged. But no one of these applications couldn't help me. I entered the Internet and observed there - doc repair. I used it and the software resolved my acute problem quite easy and without payment as I kept in mind. Besides the program showed me several interesting features.

Same issue with Office 2007 SP2 (Word+Excel+Powerpoint), Adobe Pro 9.0.0, ChemDraw Ultra 11.0.1: in pdfs created by PDFmaker the figures are messed up; just printing to Adobe PDF does not create hyperlinks. Hotfix will not execute on SP2.
