It has been reported (CSBR-141271) that ClickOnce deployments fail in cases where:

  • Client software is installed are using a hosted server system where direct HTTP/HTTPS access has been enabled on the client computers only for the IP address of the server hosting the application
  • Client software is installed locally using ClickOnce from a server located on the local network where general HTTP/HTTPS access to the Internet on client computers is restricted (for example, using a firewall/proxy).

Analyzing firewall logs typically shows that doing a ClickOnce deployment requires access to certain VERISIGN servers.

These VERISIGN servers typically use the following IP range:

199.7.71.190 - 199.7.59.190

Access to these servers over the Internet typically needs to be enabled for ClickOnce deployments.
