Answer:

Solution:
The problem is that Acrobat tells ELN that the PDF document has been created when it is actually being created. ELN waits 2 minutes for the file to be released by Acrobat Distiller. After that time, if the file is not ready you get the error message.

Workaround:

1- Go to Start->Devices and Printers
2- Select Printing Properties
3- Click Change Properties and go to the Advanced tab
4- Select “Spool print documents so the program finishes printing faster” and “Start printing after last page is spooled” (this makes the difference)
5- Click OK and try to Export to PDF again.

With this settings, Acrobat doesn't tell ELN that the PDF is ready until it actually is.

Question:
Error message when exporting a large PowerPoint section to PDF.

Acrobat distiller:
C:\documents and settings\the logged in user to the machine\local settings\Temp\Enotebook\temp.ps
cannot open this file

The error message can say "cannot find file C:\documents and settings\the logged in user to the machine\local settings\Temp\Enotebook\temp.ps" or something similar depending on the ELN version.
