![]() Answer: From the E-Notebook Administrator Guide: "The Autosave feature allows changes to be saved automatically to the database after a specified time interval following a change made to the contents of a section." Once you change your data, the autosave will occur after the corresponding interval (e.g. 15 min) is over AND no other changes made (e.g. E-Notebook is idle). If you make another change during this interval, you move the autosave event to next 15 min after the most recent change. | |

We had a researcher who worked on an Excel Section Type in an Experiment for a couple hours. He did not manually save the work on the Excel Section Type in his Experiment as he believed that the auto-save interval would save his work periodically. Some time later his machine became unresponsive and he had to reboot the machine. When he got back into his Notebook/Experiment, the Excel section he was editing was not saved. The autosave interval was set for all of his collections to 15 minutes. What might be happening? |

Please create a support ticket at http://www.cambridgesoft.com/contact/support/ or using our Support Case Portal for further investigation. We would need the exact version of E-Notebook (including your current patch level from the application menu "Help" -> "About...") and MS Office (service pack). ------------------------- -PerkinElmer Technical Support Edited: 2/28/2013 at 12:27 PM by CS Gleb |

Upon further review, I noticed that the "Enforce Autosave For Collection Type " " settings are not checked for any of our collections even though the interval value is set to 15 minutes. Is there a way to configure the collections so that each time a notebook or experiment is created that the autosave enforcement box is checked along with the default time value? |

We have verified that the auto-save interval is working once it is applied to the collections. Can you confirm however, that the behavior of the auto-save interval is to save when the collection has been idle for that interval. The auto-save does not save the collection repeatedly while collection items are being edited during any interval - only when the collection has been idle for that interval. Thanks. |

The enforcement check box cannot be automatically checked, as it is used to override the existing setting for a specific collection. Autosave interval is not inherited from a Collection Type. It can be inherited from the parent collection. For more information, please refer to E-Notebook Administrator Guide -> E-Notebook Configuration -> Collection Types -> Configurig Change Control Options -> Configurig Autosave. ------------------------- -PerkinElmer Technical Support |
