Answer:
Problem:
E-Notebook 9 uses default unit symbols like "l" for "Liter". Some customers would like to extend the list of unit symbols or change the existing symbols, for instance to use the uppercase symbol "L" for liter instead of the lowercase "l" symbol that could be confused with "1" (one).

See: http://physics.nist.gov/cuu/Units/outside.html

Solution:

The default unit can be set in the section type. A user with administrative rights has to change the default unit on the property. To do this:

  • Right click the field from within the section type configuration dialog to open the field properties dialog
  • Select the property, then choose the default unit for it.

Please note that this setting will not be captured if it is a default section on a collection (a section that is present when the collection is created). For default sections, you will need to delete the default section from the collection and re-add to the collection type after changing the default section.

This setting is also used if a property (like the volume) is automatically calculated. The listeners that do the calculation will pick the correct unit from the settings as well.
